Welcome to the Year One blog.
Here are a few reminders about life in Year 1.

We like to encourage the children to drink water throughout the day and although tap water is always available it is a lot easier if the children have their own water bottle (labelled with their name) in school.

We would like the children to have their P.E. kit in school everyday so that we can be flexible with when we do P.E. Could they please bring in their kit (labelled) on Mondays.

In Year 1 our P.P.A. afternoon is Thursday and the children will participate in various activities e.g. Music, Sports and Creative Arts. On these days we would like the children to wear outdoor sports type clothes e.g. jogging bottoms, leggings, T-shirts, sweatshirts and trainers – something warm because they will be outside. So, no school uniform on a Thursday.

Every Friday the children will bring home their ‘Home Learning Folder’ and this will include their ‘homework’. This could take a variety of forms e.g. research, interviews, activities, a task, suggested visits, a piece of writing, artwork etc. This means that we can continue the classroom based learning with you and gives scope to be as imaginative and creative as you wish. We will be collecting this in on Monday so that we can refer to their work throughout the week as it will always be relevant to our curriculum.

Please feel free to leave comments on the blog and enjoy celebrating the children’s learning as it is published.

We look forward to seeing you on here!
