Literacy

In Year 1 we have been busy learning how to read, follow and write instructions. We made Lighthouse Sandwiches for Mrs Grinling last week and this week we are writing the instructions to match, pop in and see if you like.
Below are pictures taken from when we made bread for the Little Red Hen, do you think you could type some instructions to match?
By the way it tasted delicious so you if you fancy having a go and need any bread making advice, just ask Year 1!

There’s a commotion in year 1 and it’s our assembly ‘Commotion in the Ocean’. Please come and see us perform on Thursday 11th June at 9.10am.
For those of you in Year 1 here is a link to our final song to help you practise, keep up the good work!

This week in Year 1 we have been finding out about The Three Billy Goats Gruff. The children have had a question to answer in each area of learning and have approached each challenge with enthusiasm.
Take a look and see what we have been doing.

In Numeracy we have been finding patterns in shape and making our own.
Can you tell us which shape comes next in these patterns?

As part of World Book Day we have been reading our favourite books and writing book reviews to encourage others to read. Have you read these books? If not we thoroughly recommend them!

Don’t forget to enter Chorlton Park’s Character Illustration CompetitionDraw a picture of your favourite storybook character and tell us which book they are in.
We will hold a special award assembly and your work could be displayed in school and on the blog…
Hand in your entry to Mrs Stores or you Class teacher by 20th March. Good Luck!

We have been reading The House That Jack Built in Literacy. Here are some story maps from the children creating their own version of the story by changing the setting.
